Last year at this time we were still visiting colleges and waiting on acceptances, not to mention going through all of the senior year craziness with end of high school ceremonies, activities… Wow, what a year can bring. When I think back on everything that has passed it’s amazing how much can change. I knew it was coming but I don’t think you’re ever ready for it. There are growing pains and I’m not going to sugar coat it, having my first go off to college was really, really hard. It changed the dynamics of our home and, as I’m learning, family traditions.
We had our holiday photoshoot a couple of weeks ago and started talking about what we all traditionally do along with favorite holidays memories (go to my Instagram and you can follow the conversation). I told the girls my favorite tradition is that we name our Christmas tree. I know it sounds crazy (and it is) but here’s how it started. We travel a little over an hour to cut down a fresh tree. We’ve been doing it ever since the kids were little. They loved getting out of the car, chasing each other through the trees and being part of cutting it down. The ride back was when they were in need of a diversion (ie. on the verge of meltdowns) which began the naming of our tree. We call out names, it switches from male to female each year and by majority vote decide on a name. We’ve had Christina, Max, Theodore, Noelle, Holly and Peter to name a few. This year I thought, here’s another change that I really don’t want to happen. We didn’t have time to get a tree over Thanksgiving and now the Christmas tree tradition is over. We had plans to get one with my daughter last weekend and at the last minute she said let’s wait until next weekend when all of us can go together. So I suppose I’m not the only one who would like some things to stay the same.
I’m happy to say it is less than a couple of weeks away from Christmas and we still don’t have a tree. BUT we will. I’ll let you know it’s name in a future post:). Wishing you much love spending time with the ones you love, whether continuing old traditions or creating new ones.
Behind my lens I see endless possibilities, light from within, new beginnings and infinite hope. It is such a special time in their lives with Ali being no different. She’s strong and feminine with a giggle that will get you going. I love making these girls feel like they’re the only one in the world and to watch them quite literally float into the joy of the moment. Take a look…
It’s the perfect season to gift your favorite teen girl an experience she’ll never forget! Giftcards available here. Watch a clip from Ali’s photoshoot on my Instagram page.
Oops! I woke up yesterday morning, realized it was Thursday and completely forgot to post this blog. ‘Tis the season! Being that it’s December 1st maybe it was serendipity that I’m a day late. Whether I want to face it or not, it’s gifting season. At this time of year I usually post gift suggestions recommended by my Senior Model Reps. This year I’m changing it up a little bit. I’ve listed some of my favorite picks for gifts that I know will appeal to your girls AND the purchase will support efforts against Human Trafficking or help empower women. I have nieces and a daughter in that age range so I’m checking off my list pretty quickly. I love the idea of a gift that’s win:win. I hope you find a few things your favorite teen will love. Stay sane and breathe!

Thank you for your smiles & laughter. You have made this year a dream come true! From my family to yours have a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Katie is a pint sized dynamo who, when she isn’t talking, she’s laughing and vice a versa. During the entire photoshoot she kept telling me that she’s an athlete (now playing LAX for Quinnipiac) and that this photoshoot was so not her but that she was so excited and having so much fun. It went on and on with her and I could barely keep up but, WOW! she was pure joy. It’s photoshoots like these that I never want to end. Take a look. If I had kept the sound on, honestly you would hear nothing but laughter or Katie talking. She is the best!

She was a little indecisive and quiet during our styling consultation. The day of the photoshoot she arrived after having a bit of a rough day. We settled in and Marcela, my hair and makeup artist, went to work. Gradually the energy started shifting and by the time Isabella got into her first outfit there was a whole new person in front of me. Her big huge smile came out and it was all go after that. We did our thing, changed in and out of outfits, twirled, laughed and laughed some more. In the process we got some amazing shots of her feeling perfect.
When was the last time you had professional photographs taken of your teen? I have 2 slots remaining for the year. Let’s talk and we can design a shoot customized just for her.
Gabby is a dancer and her mom warned me that she had more pictures than she could possibly know what to do with of Gabby. I warned her mom that this would be different. I should say I promised her; and I never break my promises. If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you’ll have seen a behind the scenes clip of Gabby laughing hysterically. I could have pulled just about any clip and it would have been similar. She smiles with her whole being, every ounce of Gabby smiles and emotes pure joy. To say it was a fun senior photoshoot is a vast understatement. And, for her mom, I kept my promise. Gabby’s senior pictures were like no others.
